Hello again, it’s a good day for an article. Nearing the end, we’ve been experimenting with new ways of visual representation. This is something we’ve been wanting to explore for quite awhile.
Virtual Reality
Virtual reality (VR) is a computer technology that uses virtual reality headsets, sometimes in combination with physical spaces or multi-projected environments, to generate realistic images, sounds and other sensations that simulate a user’s physical presence in a virtual or imaginary environment.
It’s a mode of representation that ties in with our work a lot. We get a lot a lot a lot..lots..did I mention… lots? of clients that cannot abstract spatial data from black & white line drawings.
Especially when it comes to visualizing spaces and how big or small they are. With the advent of technology, this allows us to virtually (pardon the pun) place the viewer into a constructed realm enabling a better sense of space.
The program is pretty straightforward although it’s a paid subscription. We tested a few out, just google it and see which one suits best your purposes. Then use the vr mode and view it through a headset.
You can get a basic pair from Gadong Mall or get a better pair online easily. Just order a pair in!
For us personally, it’s been super thrilling to see in as close to the real thing as possible the outcome of our design. To be able to really “walk through” the spaces that before only existed within the fabrics of our mind. It was an exciting experience.
